"Cirque du Soleil" presents the premiere of "Corteo" show in Moscow!  

On October, 9, 2010, in Moscow will be premiered “Corteo” – the most poetic show from the “Cirque du Soleil” company.  The shows will be taking place in “Luzhniki” where “Cirque du Soleil’s” own Great Cupola will be installed.

”Corteo” is an Italian world which translated into English means “a cortege, a parade, a festive cavalcade”.  In this show it will be an impressive parade that progresses in the mind of a clown. The show combines the artistically performed dramatic emotions with the braveness and strength of professional acrobats, urging the audience to dive into the theatrical world of fun and comedy. This fantastic world is, by chance, situated right between the heaven and earth. The clown imagines his own funerals which take place in the atmosphere of carnival, worthy of an old circus person, under the careful watch of caring angels. Big and small, funny and tragic, the magic of spell-binding perfection and the innocent charm of wrongness are mixed in the show to underline both the strength and defenselessness of the clown, his wisdom and kindness, discovering in him all those humane traces which accompany each of us. Music that constantly changes from romantic to cheerful and back, leads “Corteo” through an endless carnival, in which illusion is challenging the reality. “Cirque du Soleil” in “Corteo” has once again showed the world of the circus art from a completely different point of view. You will once again see the legendary acrobatic tricks, each of them bordering with impossible, complimented by a gentle and poetic direction of Daniele Finzi Pasca.  The show includes unique attractions with teeter boards, “Korean frame” and equilibrists dancing on the wire. All the elements of the program are original and filled with the pioneering spirit of novelty. 

“Cirque du Soleil” was created in 1984 in Montreal. Since then it has managed to synthesize different kinds of circus art to create the shows brand new both by the scale and expressiveness and change the traditional views on the genre of circus art completely. Over 90 million people in 250 cities of the world has visited “Cirque du Soleil’s” shows in the past years. The permanent cast of the company amounts to approximately one hundred highly professional artists and around 30% of them are Russian.
